Interesting Spring Boot trick – Custom Banner in spring

After my explorations of GoLang and NodeJS in Web based Back-end Technologies, It’s that time of the career when I switch to Java. Exciting eh? I recently started exploring Spring, Spring Boot and Hibernate in an attempt to get myself comfortable with Java Web Development Stack. In this article, I will demonstrate a super cool trick I stumbled on i.e Replacing default banner and adding custom banner in spring.

Here’s a 3 step simple process to add a custom banner in spring application

1. Create a banner.txt and place it under resources folder in your application

2. Go to a ASCII Generator for ex: patorjk

Put in the text and select a Font (I have selected Star Wars which I find pretty cool) and paste it in your banner.txt file

Here’s what my banner.txt looks like:

3. Start your application and this is what it would look like with your custom banner:

I hope you enjoyed 🙂 For me, I could call it end of the working day with a happy heart right when I could it 😉 #LittleTrickThatMadeMeHappy
